Our History

Roots

Connection Church began in Statesboro, GA in 2008  in a living room with 7 people, a pot of chili, and a vision for a simple church that would be laser focused on connecting people to a growing relationship with Jesus. Since that night, God has done incredible things through Connection Church. The church grew from that tiny living room to a permanent location with over 2,000 weekly attenders in a little over 4 years. Then in 2013, Connection Church decided to take the next step and began to plant church campuses. The first campus plant was established in Vidalia, GA. The following year, the Millen campus was planted. Then in 2016 the Dublin campus officially launched followed by the Savannah campus the following year.

Birth

Connection Church Dublin began with that same simple vision, to be a simple church laser focused on connecting people to a growing relationship with Jesus. The goal has always been to reach the city of Dublin by establishing a Gospel centered, diverse church church. Connection Church Dublin began with a handful of couples led by Pastor Buck Benton and his wife Carly that relocated from the Vidalia campus to Dublin to plant the church . The first meeting took place in a basement with a small group of people. Over the next few months during the church planting process, God began to change lives in that basement as the Word of God was taught and people began to respond to receive Christ as Lord and be baptized.

Next Steps

That small group began to grow and plant new small group communities that we call Connect Groups, so that more people could experience community focused on the Good News of Jesus. Through much fasting and prayer, that small group of people sought the Lord to give us a place to have Sunday worship services. God gave us an incredible opportunity to worship right in the heart of downtown Dublin at the Theatre Dublin. Since then, over a hundred individuals have placed their faith in Jesus and have been baptized. What started as a small group has now grown into a vibrant church community that meets every Sunday in the Theatre and in Connect Groups spread out all over the county during the week.

Connection Network

Our heart has always been driven by the desire to reach people. Connection Church grew from 1 location to 5 in a short amount of time. With such rapid growth, conversations began to discuss the best way for all of the churches to proceed moving forward and what that relationship should look like. Through much prayer, the church decided to roll off all of the locations to become fully autonomous churches with local leadership. We believed this was the most biblical solution to such massive growth. Then the question arose, how do we work together as 5 fully autonomous churches? That's when the Connection Network began to take shape. We as the 5 Connection Churches are working together in a partnership with the goal of planting more Connection Churches, structuring them to become independent, locally led, fully autonomous churches having the same heartbeat we have, which is connecting people to a growing relationship with Jesus. We are excited to announce that we recently planted Connection Church Athens, our sixth Connection Church! Working together as a Network we are excited about the future and truly believe the best is yet to come for Connection Church!
